Settings

Time settings

Search for location or time zone to set time - sets the NEC MediaPlayer to the correct time for where the device is located. This ensures playlist schedules run at the correct time each day.

To set the time zone:
  1. Press the down arrow to highlight the input field.

  2. Press SET (IR remote control) or Enter (USB keyboard) to show the soft-keyboard on-screen.

  3. Input the timezone, city, or country.

  4. When the correct timezone is found, navigate to [Select] next to that timezone and press SET (IR remote control) or Enter (USB keyboard).

Playback settings

Playback on start or when idle - sets what the NEC MediaPlayer should do when no button presses have been detected on the monitor's IR remote control, or an attached USB keyboard, for 90 seconds. This setting controls if content automatically starts playing when the NEC MediaPlayer is powered on or restarted.

Note: the idle timer is temporarily disabled when the cursor highlight moves away from one of the top menu functions. This allows you to configure the NEC MediaPlayer settings to custom preferences without automatic playback interrupting the process. When the cursor highlight returns to one of the top menu functions (Files, Quick Play, Playlists, CMS, Apps, Updates, Browser Client, Settings), the idle timer automatically re-enables.

  • None - this prevents the idle timer from running so that automatic playback does not start and it is the default setting on the initial setup. After running Quick Play or Playlists, this function automatically switches from None to whichever function was started (Quick Play or Playlists) and will remain at that function until manually switched back to None.

  • Quick Play - this automatically starts Quick Play with the last application used. For example, if Quick Play was playing media files on a USB storage device, the previous media files will start playing again. If the Browser app was the last Quick Play application used, the Browser launches to the default URL.

Note that if the last used playback function was Playlists, the idle playback does not automatically switch to Quick Play. Automatic switching to Quick Play only occurs when the idle playback is None.

  • Playlists - this automatically launches the last Playlist played.

Note that if the last used playback function was Quick Play, the idle playback does not automatically switch to Playlists. Automatic switching to Playlists only occurs when the idle playback is None.

Playback logging - creates log files that collect information about the playing content on the NEC MediaPlayer device. This log file is only accessible from the Browser Client via a web browser.

Playback logging remote access - allows the Browser Client access to the playback logs located on the NEC MediaPlayer device.

Network

There are different options available for configuring the network settings of the Compute Module 3 Interface Board and Compute Module 4 Interface Board. Please refer to Network Connectivity in the Specifications section.

Compute Module 3 Interface Board

Automatic network setup - when enabled, it automatically gets the network information from the LAN and configures the NEC MediaPlayer network settings. Disable this setting to manually input the network settings for the NEC MediaPlayer.

Compute Module 4 Interface Board

Active interface - sets which network connection to use.

  • Ethernet - IF board - select this option to use the Compute Module 4 Interface Board LAN. A LAN cable must be plugged into the external Ethernet LAN port on the Compute Module 4 Interface Board and to the local network.

  • Ethernet - Display LAN Hub - select this option to use the monitor's internal LAN hub for network connectivity. The monitor's Ethernet LAN port must be connected to the local network via a LAN cable.

  • Wi-Fi - select this option to use the Compute Module 4 Interface Board Wireless connection with a local wireless network.

Only the Compute Module 4 Interface Board DS1-IF21CE with the external antenna kit installed can use the Wi-Fi settings described here-in.

    Configuring the Wi-Fi settings

After selecting [Wi-Fi] for the [Active interface], an additional set of options will appear in the interface for selecting the wireless network.

    1. Next to [SSID], select [Change].

    2. Highlight the local wireless network you want to connect to from the list of available networks.

      Notes:

      • Hidden networks are not available and cannot be manually entered.

      • If you do not see the network you want to connect to, try rebooting the wireless router, then select [Refresh] on this screen when the router is back online.

    3. Highlight and select [Connect].

    4. Input the password for the network you selected.

    5. Select [Confirm and connect].

Automatic network setup - when enabled, it automatically gets the network information from the LAN and configures the NEC MediaPlayer network settings. Disable this setting to manually input the network settings for the NEC MediaPlayer.
