Files
Use Files to manage files on the NEC MediaPlayer's internal storage and copy image and video files from an attached USB storage device to the internal storage.
Connect a USB storage device to the monitor to transfer media files to internal storage, play files directly from the USB storage in Quick Play, or import/export playlists.

Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 - connect the USB storage device to one of the USB Type-A ports on the monitor.

Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 - connect the USB storage device to one of the USB Type-A port on the Compute Module interface board.
Note: use a USB storage device formatted with a FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, or Linux (ext2, ext3, ext4) file system.
Functions in the Files menu

Select all - selects all items in the current folder.

Unselect all - unselects all items in the current folder.
- Show - selects which file types are shown.
- All - all files are shown.
- Images - only images are shown.
- Videos - only videos are shown.

Sort - sorts the files either A-to-Z or Z-to-A.

Copy to - this option only appears when the selected location is "USB storage". Copies selected files from USB storage to the NEC MediaPlayer's internal storage.

Delete - this option only appears when the selected location is "Internal storage". Deletes selected files from the NEC MediaPlayer's internal storage.
Icon legend

- indicates an image file.

- indicates a video file.

- indicates the format is not supported.
When selecting a supported file type, a preview of the file shows in the preview window.
When selecting an unsupported file type, the preview window indicates why the file cannot be read. For example, with a video, the frame rate, bitrate, or resolution may be out of range, or the video may have been created using an unsupported video codec.
Supported playable file formats
The NEC MediaPlayer does not auto-rotate content when changing the monitor's orientation from landscape to portrait. Content must be created in the desired orientation, and within required specifications, for the file format types specified in the tables below.

Change the orientation of the NEC MediaPlayer interface in the NEC MediaPlayer settings under Orientation.

Instructions for how to create content for playing on the NEC MediaPlayer is outside the scope of this document. See the FAQ for a list of free video editing apps that can be used to create content.

The monitor's OSD (On-Screen Display) will automatically rotate based on the orientation of the monitor.

Note: the NEC MediaPlayer supports the video formats listed above at the time this document was written and is subject to change without notice.
Only unprotected files are supported.
Formats marked with the asterisk (*) are supported on the Compute Module 3 only, they are not supported on the Compute Module 4. Please go to Specifications to check your product's compatibility.

Managing files on the internal storage
Copying files

Connect a USB storage device one of the USB Type-A ports on the monitor.

Select [Files].

Select [USB 0 storage].

Navigate to the file list on the USB storage drive.

Highlight and select each file you want to copy to the internal storage.
You can also select an entire folder or open a folder and select individual files within that folder to copy to the internal storage.

Highlight and select [Copy to].
-
Select [Copy here (Caution: Existing files will be overwritten)].
Note that only files with the same name will be overwritten.
Only supported file formats are copied to the internal storage. If any unsupported files were selected for copying, they will not be copied to the internal storage.
Note: [Internal storage] is the available local storage shown at the top of the file list on the left when [Internal storage] is the selected [Files] location.
Deleting files

Highlight and select each file you want to delete from the internal storage.

Highlight and then select [Delete].

Press the right arrow to highlight and select "Delete" to confirm that you want to delete the files.
Note: if any of the files you selected to delete are assigned to a playlist, the confirmation message indicates the number of conflicting files and playlists.
