Scheduling playlists
When a playlist is created, the scheduling is automatically enabled as a function of the playlist. The settings under the Schedule menu adjust the start and stop time, which days of the week it runs, if the playlist should expire, and whether or not to trigger the playlist by human sensor (if supported and connected).
Functions in the Schedule menu
-
Time of day- set at what time of the day the playlist should start. This is a 24-hr clock. Selecting [Yes] next to [All day long] automatically sets the playlist to run on a 24-hr schedule. The default selection is [Yes].
-
Week days - select which days of the week the playlist should run. By default, the playlist is scheduled to run every day of the week. Highlight a day and press SET (IR remote control) or Enter (USB keyboard) to strikeout the day.
-
Play from - set a start date for the playlist schedule to become active at a future date. By default, the playlist becomes active the day it is created. Select [Cancel] if you change the setting then decide you do not want to use this feature.
-
Play to - set the end date for the playlist schedule to expire so that it stops automatically playing. By default, the playlist never expires and will continue playing on-schedule until deleted. Select [Cancel] if you change the setting then decide you do not want to use this feature.
-
Triggered by - if you want the playlist to start when the monitor's human sensor detects the presence of a human, select [Yes]. This function requires the human sensor (current model KT-RC3) to be connected to the monitor.
Technical notes:
-
If the Playback settings [Playback on start or when idle] is set to Playlists, playlists run through the schedule based on [Time of day].
-
When two or more playlists overlap in time, playback alternates between playlists.
For example, if two different playlists are scheduled to run between 08:00 and 12:00, the playlist that starts at 08:00 is the first one that appears alphabetically. When the first playlist finishes, the second playlist starts. When the second playlist finishes, the first playlist begins again.
-
If no playlists are scheduled to run during a period of time, the NEC MediaPlayer returns to the QuickPlay menu at the end of playlist schedule.
-
Make sure the time zone for the location of the NEC MediaPlayer device has been set to ensure the playlist schedule runs at the correct time each day. Set the time zone in the Time settings.
-
If the playlist is scheduled to run less than the length of the total duration of the playlist, the playlist will stop playing content. For example, if the playlist's total run time duration has 4-hours of content, but the [Time of day] is set to only play from 10:00-12:00, then only the first two hours of the playlist's content is shown.
Using Playlists to control the monitor's power schedule
When the playlists schedule settings are configured, and the NEC MediaPlayer's [Power schedule] setting is set to [Automatic by playlists], the settings selected here define when the monitor automatically powers on and off. Playlists automatically play when the [Playback on start or when idle] is set to [Playlists]. See Power schedule and Playback settings in the NEC MediaPlayer settings.
