Apps
Use the Apps menu to activate and deactivate the available NEC MediaPlayer apps. Activating or deactivating the app in this menu shows or hides the app in the Quick Play and Playlist menus.
Browser
-
Display web pages showing dynamic remote content
-
Use a touchscreen-enabled display to navigate interactive web pages
-
Whitelist addresses to restrict unwanted navigation when used in Quick Play
Accessible in both Quick Play and Playlists, the Browser shows optimized content from your local network or the Internet.
Technical notes:
-
Web pages containing popups, scripts, intensive video and animations may cause degraded performance or cause unexpected behavior. If this occurs, it may be necessary to restart the NEC MediaPlayer.
Video input
-
Full-screen video input playback
-
Mix with other content
Use this app in a Playlist to switch between the NEC MediaPlayer and external video inputs to display content from video sources such as a set-top-box or Blu-ray player. Connect source devices to either the HDMI1 or DisplayPort1 inputs on the monitor.
Technical notes:
-
When this app starts while the playlist is playing, the monitor's OSD setting for high-speed switching between inputs enables immediately; this allows the inputs to fast-switch between the NEC MediaPlayer (Compute Module) input and the HDMI1/DisplayPort1 input to display content with minimal delay for refreshing the screen.
Network storage
-
Play files located on remote folders
-
Support for shared Windows folders
-
Support for Samba servers
-
Automatically updates if the content is changed
Use this app in Quick Play to load and play content stored on a network drive.
Select individual files to play in alphabetical order.
Alternatively, selecting a folder plays all of the files within that folder in alphabetical order, and checks for any changes to the folder contents every 10 minutes and plays accordingly.
If the connection to the network drive is lost, the last set of files continues to play from the internal storage area that contains the cached Network Storage files.
Note that Network storage is not available in playlists and cannot be used to copy media files to the device's internal storage.
Technical notes:
-
When the NEC MediaPlayer starts, it reaches out to the SMB to sync the selected content. If it fails after 10 seconds, the NEC MediaPlayer plays old content. Every 10 minutes, the NEC MediaPlayer attempts to sync again.
-
Until there is synced content, the NEC MediaPlayer plays cached content.
-
If the sync logic discovers changes in the SMB files, such as adding new files to the selected folder or removing previously selected files, the NEC MediaPlayer fetches the changes during sync, removes obsolete files from the internal memory, and restarts playback.
-
When selecting a folder for Quick Play, it fetches and plays all files in the selected folder and all files in all subfolders (if there are any). The files are sorted alphabetically.
-
When selecting individual files for Quick Play, it fetches and plays only the selected files.
-
The files expire after one day; then, the Network storage app attempts to re-sync the files.
Stream
-
Support RTSP, UDP, and HTTP streaming formats
-
Full-screen playback
Display fresh and engaging content through live streaming from a local network or Internet based streaming server.
